Google Cloud Platform Services Soon Accessible through vmware's vcloud Air

Google and VMware announce that select Google Cloud platform services can soon be purchased through VMware’s hybrid cloud platform - vCloud Air. The companies believe that enterprise Customers can now enjoy best of both worlds, i.e. the virtualization capabilities of the VMware and the vast cloud computing capabilities of Google. Google Cloud Platform services including Google Cloud Storage, Google BigQuery, Google Cloud Datastore, and Google Cloud DNS will be available later this year for the VMware Air customers. Google Cloud Storage is a distributed object storage service. Google BigQuery is a real-time Big Data analytics service. Google Cloud Datastore is the company’s document-based NoSQL database service and Google Cloud DNS is a globally distributed DNS service. These services will be available to the vCloud Air customers later this year. Customers can access the Google Cloud Platform from a single point of purchase and would be required to pay for as much Google Platform services they make use of. Support for VMware and available Google services will be coordinated by VMware’s Global Support and Services (GSS) team. “Many businesses around the world rely on VMware datacenter virtualization solutions to virtualize their infrastructure and optimize the agility and efficiency of their data centers,” stated Murali Sitaram, Managing Director, Global Partner Strategy & Alliances, Google for Work, in the Google Cloud Platform blog. “VMware customers will benefit from the security, scalability, and price performance of Google’s public cloud, built on the same infrastructure that allows Google to return billions of search results in milliseconds, serve 6 billion hours of YouTube video per month and provide storage for 425 million Gmail users,” Sitaram added.
